Selyn
The Selyn Identity

Identity isn't
decoration.

It is the sum of principles, systems, craft, and a thousand quiet decisions. A logo is where a brand starts. What you are reading is where it lives. This is how Selyn thinks, designs, and decides.

  • Every choice is a signal.
  • Every detail is a decision.
  • Every pixel earns its trust.

01

Philosophy

Style is downstream of belief. These five convictions decide the small things so we do not have to argue them twice, and they are why two unrelated Selyn projects still feel like siblings.

01

Restraint is a feature

Anyone can add. We ask what to remove. Whatever survives has earned its place, so the page can breathe and the point can land.

02

Details are the design

A brand is felt in the parts no one points to. The weight of a border, the pause before a menu opens, the space around a full stop. Trust is built there.

03

Type carries the message

Before colour, before imagery, typography does the work. Set it well and you rarely need decoration. Set it badly and nothing else can save it.

04

Motion is meaning

Movement should explain a change, not perform for applause. If an animation does not help you understand what moved and where, it should not exist.

05

Constraints create elegance

A tight palette, a fixed scale, a small set of rules. Limits are not the enemy of good work, they are the frame that makes it sharp.

02

Design Language

The part you can see. A short palette, one spacing scale, a real grid, and a clear order of importance. Small vocabulary, spoken fluently.

Colour, kept short
Ink#13120a

The ground. Warm, never a flat black.

Bone#f7f7f4

The light. Paper, not screen white.

Signal#eb4a03

The one loud voice. Used once, on purpose.

Graphite#7a7974

The quiet, where most words live.

The grid, made visible
Hierarchy, at a glance

The loudest thing wins

A supporting line, one notch down.

Then the body, set for reading. Size, weight, and colour do the sorting so the eye always knows where to go first, and where to go next, without a single line or box to help it.

And the fine print, last
03

Motion

Motion is a sentence, not a firework. It tells you what changed and where it went. The curve matters more than the distance, so we tune it until it feels inevitable, then take it out of the way. Pick one below and feel the difference.

Purpose
Explain, never perform
Duration
Short. 200 to 600ms
Easing
Fast in, gentle out
Restraint
One thing moves at a time
Move

cubic-bezier(0.23, 1, 0.32, 1) · 600ms

Fast to start, gentle to settle. It reads as considered, not animated.

04

Typography

Type is the architecture. It holds the weight before colour or image ever arrives. Four voices, each with a job, and a measure set for the reader, not the layout.

Measure

A line wants somewhere between sixty and seventy-five characters. Longer and the eye loses its way back to the left. Shorter and it jumps too often. We set the column, then trust it, so reading never feels like work.

Rhythm

A heading sits close

to the paragraph it introduces, and further from the one above it. Space is not filler, it is grouping. It tells you what belongs together before you have read a word.

05

Voice

We write the way we design. Say the true thing, in the fewest words, without trying to sound impressive. The easiest way to show it is to show what it is not.

Craft

This is the chapter no one is supposed to notice. Premium is not a colour or a gradient. It is a hundred small decisions pointing the same way. Drag the handle below and watch the trust arrive with the craft.

RawCrafted

Drag. Same content, same layout. Only the craft moves, and so does your trust.

Two files. Same brief. One got an extra hour on the parts you will never consciously see.

That hour is the whole job. Anyone can place the elements. The studio is in how they are finished, the weight of a line, the fall of a shadow, the give of a corner. It is invisible until it is missing, and then it is the only thing you feel.

Borders whisper

A single hairline separates without boxing anything in.

Shadows stay low

Light falls from above and lands close, so it reads as real.
