Acceptable use

When you use the site, you agree not to:

• Break any law, or use the site to help someone else break one.
• Try to access parts of the site, our systems, or our data that are not meant for you.
• Probe, scan, or test the site for vulnerabilities, or get around any security or rate-limiting we put in place.
• Disrupt the site or its infrastructure, including with automated traffic that degrades service for others.
• Send us anything through the contact form that is unlawful, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights.
• Scrape or copy the site's content at scale, or reuse it to train models or build a competing service, without our written permission.

Intellectual property

The site and everything on it, the writing, design, layout, code, imagery, the Selyn name and marks, and the essays in The Review, belong to Selyn or are used with permission. They are protected by copyright and other rights.

You may not copy, republish, redistribute, or make derivative works from the content without our written consent, beyond normal personal viewing and linking. If you would like to quote or reference an essay, a link back to the source is welcome and usually all we ask.

Sending us a brief

When you send a project brief through the contact form, you confirm the details you share are accurate and yours to share. We use what you send only to respond to your enquiry. How we handle that information is set out in our Privacy Policy. Sending a brief does not create a contract for work, and it does not oblige either of us to go further.

Links to other sites

The site may link to third-party sites, for example client work or references. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or their own terms and privacy practices. Following an external link is at your own discretion.

No warranty

The site is provided as is and as available. We work hard to keep it accurate, current, and running, but we do not promise it will always be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of anything harmful. Nothing on the site is professional advice, and you should not rely on it as a substitute for advice tailored to your situation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Selyn is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site. This does not limit any liability that cannot be limited under the laws of Alberta, Canada.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site or the law changes. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Albertaand the laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts located in Alberta.
